Waterproofing and thermal insulation without ventilation of pitched roof without ventilation

Over the entire surface of the flat part, a vapour barrier will be flame-bonded in complete adherence on the maximum slope line, consisting of a distilled bitumen polymer elastoplastomeric thermal-adhesive waterproofing membrane, 3 mm thick, with reinforced glass felt mesh (type TECTENE BV STRIP EP/V), fitted with built-in adhesive for bonding to expanded polystyrene insulation panels, consisting of thermal-adhesive strips distributed across 40% of the upper surface of the sheet. The continuity of the vapour barrier on the vertical parts is carried out by heat-bonding, onto the edge of the bottom of the projecting parts, a band of elastoplastomeric distilled bitumen polymer membrane reinforced with composite non-woven polyester fabric coupled to 12 micron aluminium foil, like DEFEND ALU POLYESTER, wide enough to cover the flat part by at least 10 cm and be turned up vertically by 5 cm more than the thickness of the envisaged insulation. Rafters will be mechanically fixed every 2 m on top of the vapour barrier (type TECTENE BV STRIP); their thickness will be equal to the thickness of the insulation provided and will be placed in parallel with the ridge line and they will be at least 4 cm wide. Subsequently, a waterproof thermal insulation will be flame-bonded on top of the vapour barrier, supplied in ISOBASE type panels, provided with CE marking, compliant with the EN13163 and fire reaction Euroclass E in accordance with the EN13501-1. The waterproofing under-tile covering will then be bonded on top of the thermal insulation.
The covering will consist of a MINERAL TESTUDO SPUNBOND POLIESTERE 4.5 Elastoplastomeric polymer-distilled bitumen waterproofing membrane, covered with slate granules, based on distilled bitumen, plastomers and elastomers, with reinforcement consisting of Spunbond non-woven polyester fabric.
Maximum roof angle permitted =35% When permitted by the tile manufacturer and local custom, the layer of tiles may be laid on mortar stringcourses, themselves supported directly by the membrane in rows parallel to the guttering, making sure to interrupt them every 2 m or so with a short slit to provide ventilation under the tiles and draining of any infiltration of water.
